Information About
Miniature Donkeys

Miniature donkeys are from the Mediterranean Sea area, and those in the
United States originate from animals brought here from islands off the
coast of Italy.
Most weigh 250 pounds or less, but must be under 36" at the withers.
All of our donkeys are registered at the American Donkey and Mule
Association in Texas.
Shelter from weather is important. Up here we have to deal with cold in
the winder and it can rain often.
We feed our animals both a filler equine hay as well as a protein feed.
Trimming their hoofs is important. Each animal is different, but we
trim them four times a year.
One of the advantages of raising miniature donkeys is that they need
minimal acreage to forage from. We find that we can put 4 to 6 animals per
acre.
The bond that can be developed through love and attention will be
repaid in ways that are hard to explain to those that have not yet
developed a small herd.
Pedigrees are offered with each donkey. We have excellent blood lines.
We do not breed until the animal is mature at 3 years of age.
